Can a Company change its name?
Yes. A Private Limited Company or a Public Limited Company change its name after getting approval of its Share Holders through a Special Resolution in General Meeting.
How many days it takes to change name of Company?
It generally takes around 25 days’ time for getting approval of change of name from the ROC. However everything depends on the processing time taken by Government department.
What are the formalities after change of name is approved?
After change of name is approved by the ROC and a revised Certificate of Incorporation is received you need to change name of your company on PAN Card, apply for change of name with VAT, Service Tax, and Shop Establishment etc. Company is also required to inform its stake holders, bankers and people with whom they have made agreements about the change of name. New copies of Memorandum and Articles of Association should also be printed.
